Join New Americans Museum at City Heights Coffee House for an informal community conversation on PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and mental health in the refugee and immigrant communities.
According to research “interconnected problems of PTSD, depression, grief, and demoralization is the common burden of all displaced persons”*. Conflict and trauma can continue to have negative effects on an individual’s well being even after resettlement in a new home.
Come and share, listen, or just be present with other supportive and welcoming individuals. Mental health representatives will be in attendance to share resources that are available to community members.
The community conversation will be a safe space free of bias, prejudice, judgment or criticism.
