NAM will be celebrating Dia de los Muertos with a special installation by professor of anthropology at Universidad de Autonoma de Baja California , Dr. Jose Guadalupe Flores and his students. This year’s altar will honor the Mexican comic, poet, philanthropist and activist Cantinflas. Join us to honor our ancestors and learn about this meaningful tradition.
November 3rd will be a very special Friday Night Liberty at NAM. Join us for our Dia de los Muertos reception and Curator Talk featuring Dr. Jose Guadalupe Flores from the Universidad Autonoma de Baja California as he shares with us the meaning and tradition behind Dia de los Muertos. High Tech High Chula Vista’s New Hope Project will be making NAM its temporary home starting December 12th. This oral history project seeks to celebrate America’s diversity and history by telling rich stories of the students lives, their parents, grandparents and relatives. The students will be sharing their stories via a customized story telling tree, symbolizing the roots of their stories building the foundation for their futures.
Join us for the opening reception of the powerful exhibit Japanese Americans & the Impact of Interment: Modern Lens, Old Wounds. This exhibit will feature a video installation of the documentary Legacy of Heart Mountain and works by Japanese American artists.
