Annual Children’s Citizenship Ceremony

Children’s Citizenship Ceremony

On January 20, 2009, Presidential Inauguration Day, the New Americans Museum, in partnership with the Citizenship and Immigration Services of Homeland Security, hosted a pilot Children’s Citizenship Ceremony for children aged toddler to 17 years that took place at the museum during the run of the exhibition, Between Cultures: Children of Immigrants in America, a photo documentary by Gina Grillo. The 101 children and their families enjoyed the Presidential Inauguration, participating in a citizenship ceremony, and touring the museum as they celebrated an important day in their personal lives and in our country’s history.
